Another flexi done today by consultant post 1st BCG maintenance. Bladder all clear but original wound site showing some oedema still. Not really surprising after 3 TURBTs on same site, with last in mid June to check red patch (no cancerous cells found in muscle or lamina proprietor back then).
CT scan showed what appears to be quite a large area of fluid - query oedema - outside the bladder, immediately adjacent to TUTBTs wound site. Consultant think it’s oedema from wound site, but needs to be confirmed by radiographer. He thinks BCG has interrupted healing of wound site, but not 100% sure.
MDT Friday to confirm situation, and of course my mind is reacting, what if…..cancer has invaded muscle and fat layer?
Has anyone else had a fluid build up like this?
Anyway, I have been referred to the surgeon for robotic surgery for RC.
cheers
Leo
Oh Leo, it's just never ending for you. Hope you get some clarification soon.
Sending you and Mrs Leo a hug.
Love Ade xx
Hi Ade - should find out at tomorrow’s MDT meeting, everything crossed.
Update: MDT recommend RC. Referred to surgeon. Another CT scan, pre op assessments, MRI scan to follow. There is a possibility that my cancer may have progressed, the MRI may provide some insight. Do I regret going down the BCG route? Yes. Wish I had gone for RC back in March.
Hi Leo, I am so sorry that you have been through so much with the bcg. I hope all the pre op scans and tests happen quickly for you and you can get on with having the op and the road to recovery. We are always here for you man . sending you care and wishes for good test results.
Much love Angela x
winkers60 well it’s always the danger of BCG - under staging, which can have very serious consequences. I am replaying my decision to go down the BCG route and blaming myself, which is not great. I listened to the MDT instead of my own inner voice. Mistake, but I must move on. My message to G3 T1 patients : do not have BCG too risky, go safe with a RC.
Hi Leo, you gave BCG your best shot and it may have worked for you, we all want to think that we will be able to preserve our bladders and hindsight is a wonderful thing, don't blame yourself, you're only human ️
On another note, and I'm being nosy here, do you have a background in science? You always put forward such solid, logical, statistical information
Love Ade xx
