Morning All

Following 3 lots of TURBT surgery and 2 CT scans I have the option of BCG or Cystectomy . The Diagnosis was G3 pT1 with focal anaplasia. Bladder cancer . I think the surgeon would have operated on me there and then but has given me a week to decide treatment. I am active and fit 74 year old and would value thoughts from this group ( I know at the end it’s my decision)

  • Hi Leo,I still felt tired at 11 weeks.By month 4 energy levels picked up quite a bit.I remember I started decorating the bathroom.I hope you feel more energetic soon.It is frustrating but you can’t really rush it in case you go backwards.Jane x

  • Hi Leo , I still have  ( wish  I was under a duvet days ) don't think dark mornings and early dark nights help . Its really only the last couple of weeks that I've felt I had more energy ( maybe because my appetite is back ) . I met some friends on the golf course this week .Wish I could have played but don't want a hernia so I just watched then joined them for a coffee . Spring is round the corner , I'm sure we will be both like new born lambs by then running round the meadow.

  • I’m sure you will both pick up when Spring arrives.I don’t think it helps when you are recovering during Autumn or Winter.

  • As Jane says, 11 weeks is still pretty early in recovery. Becsause my surgeon had said 3 months off work, I was determined to go back, but in hindsight I wasn't really ready. I did manage a phased return to work, but only one short day a week (long commute & demanding job). I couldn't comfortably stand for very long & was pretty wiped out at the end of the day. Otherwise, activities had to be spaced out with rest in between.  By 6 months post op I was back to my normal schedule, but still needed an early night. It was 8 months before I felt I had shed that end of the day fatigue.

I think this is the stage where you get frustrated that you're starting to feel better but have no energy. Remember to keep snacking in between meals to help keep energy & healing going on. Plenty of protein & carbs!

  • Great replies everyone, thank you so much. I am at my best in the evening, in the morning I feel like a zombie on  allium. Thanks so much. Leo
