Hi all, so I just heard I am having my GA Cystoscopy Bx next week on 15th. My urologist does it like this; 6 weeks BCG  then flexi cystoscopy. Then 3 more BCG then GA cystoscopy BX . I do find it a bit odd that I cant just have another flexi, but i have to trust the experts. Not gonna lie , it has definitely given me the what ifs !! It is such hard work mentally trying to ignore the what ifs, but no choice really. Putting my big girl pants on and trying to think positively. I know you guys are always on standby with support and I love you all for that .

  • Slice two medium sizes red onions into rings. Shallow fry in a little oil until soft. Turn up the power and fry till deep brown and crispy. Put to one side. Cook the curry and plate up with the rice. Zap onions in the microwave until hot and sprinkle over the chicken curry. Alternatively, chop onions and cook in air fryer until dark and crispy. Enjoy with a glass or two of Spanish Merlot. Enjoy

  • It’s so nice when things are over and done with, isn’t it? I’ve had the nurse this morning at the house trying to take bloods without success-this is the third day in a row they’ve tried with no luck. So I’ve been stressed about that, and it’s only a little thing!

I’m relaxing myself and planning to treat myself to a drink tonight as I won’t need to have another nurse try until next week! Joy

  • Hi Sarah,You probably know this already but make sure you drink plenty of fluids beforehand. It’s much harder to find a vein when you are dehydrated so we were told. The phlebotomist used to phone mum the day before she was due bloods to remind her to drink enough.Mum had terrible veins anyway they used to have to use a needle for children.Love Jane xx

  • The first time the nurse arrived on Wednesday I was only just out of bed and having a coffee so didn’t have the chance to drink. I told her I would be dehydrated. Yesterday I kept drinking water before she came, and same with today. Also today I used a hot water bottle on both arms in advance of her visit to warm things up, but still no joy. I noticed today she was using the little needle for children, so the other nurses must have warned her!

At this point, they’ve tried inside my right arm, several times, on my right arm above my wrist and on the back of both hands so I’m fed up! Not sure what else I can do. They are sending a chap next week who apparently is very good!

  • Fingers crossed for next time Sarah.Mum’s gp was brilliant at getting blood. Then the gp’s stopped taking bloods and you always had to book another appt with a nurse or phlebotomist.xx

  • We have a phlebotomist who runs clinics at the gp surgery and he is brilliant! Best person ever at taking my blood. But I couldn’t get an appointment and we currently cant get out of the house as my partner has a slipped disc and can’t drive me to any of the other surgeries in the group.

  • Oh no,sending hugs to you both. It’s so difficult when you have a small support group to start with,I feel for you having been through similar myself.Love Jane xx

  • Thanks Jane, I know you well understand the difficulties of a tiny support system. I’m going to have to cancel a hospital appointment for next week now. No way to get to it, and it’s too far for the hospital volunteer transport so we can’t use them.
