Got my first visit to cancer centre tomorrow, I know ive to get Chemo and Radiotherapy, hopefully tomorrow some idea of a treatment plan. A wee bit nervous at the moment methinks it may be a long night.

Well that left me slightly bewildered, they offered me Radiotherapy 4 weeks and discussed Chemo laced with lots of warnings of how it may affect me and could lead to hospitalisation with a list of serious conditions up to Sepsis. The chemo offered is along with radio week 1 and week 4. Before I went in to see doctor I was definitely decided on the two routes but now I'm kind of scared off the chemo and going for the Radio on its own. The percentage given to be cancer free on Radiotherapy alone is 45% a with chemo added 50% Nothing is simple in this cancer world.

Scotvip . Hi Scott. They always have to explain the worst case scenarios but things rarely get that far. The chemo with radiotherapy is usually administered via a PICC line. Usually Mitomycin and Flourouracil (MMC/5FU). The cocktail is administered very slowly over a long period ( 5 days) and shouldn't have the same effect as the ne day big hits. I had no reaction to it at all. I also had 6 weeks pre adjuvant chemo prior to RT. I was happy to take everything they could throw at me to get rid of it. Best wishes.
