Hi, hope everyone is well, I got the results today from my last Turbt it was a long 3 weeks wait. I was first diagnosed with a T1 G3 tumour today my CNS said it is now PT1 G3 can anyone tell me what the difference is please, have a meeting with her tomorrow re further treatment have the option of BCG or possible RC if I want to go down that road. Has anyone gone for BCG and then had a RC very confused on what to do. Many thanks Lynn

  • Hi

I wasn't really given a choice. I had a stage 2 BC, which had just penetrated the muscle layer and the recommendation was RC. Now my surgeon gave me an 80% chance of a cure and this was seven years ago. Not really looked back, although I have had some issues, which are documented on my profile. The problem with statistics is that they can be a bit misleading and based on research that can be five years old.  I would really suggest having,if you haven't done already, an in depth chat with your CSN about your options.

It doesn't matter where you go, there you are
  • 80% are pretty good odds. Thanks for advice, will deffo talk to cancer specialist nurse tomorrow, Leo

  • Hi, I am in a similar position to you in that I have just had my second TURBT and one week into the three long weeks for results. My current diagnosis is T1G3 although histology report states “at least” which is a bit worrying.. I’m very anxious at the prospect of a RC, so the responses to your question have also helped me. I was hoping that I could go onto monitoring and not need to have BCG or other treatment but I realise now that’s not likely.

  • Morning Frank,

It’s a big shock being diagnosed, but you are now in the NHS system, and bladder cancer can be treated. I am no doctor, but think it unlikely that you will be put on monitoring with high grade cancer (which I also have). The 2nd TURBT is quite normal with your additional diagnosis, and helps confirm staging and guides your treatment options. It won’t be long now I am, sure, though waiting is the hardest part.

Hang on in there and take the time to look into treatment pathways from reliable sources - not Dr Google.
