Hi, all just a quick question, after my 3rd TURBT I had mitymicin which didn't work so had my 4th in Nov. I was told I would have warmed mitymicin next but a recent cystoscopy to check the surgeon got it all revealed its back again. Anyone else had this many?. Despite all I feel lucky it's always superficial but has spread in the past which resulted in a kidney out. Just feels like ground hog day all the time . Paula x
Hi Jane, another TURBT then hopefully the mitymicin again. They don't want to use BCG as they say the side effects will be worse than what I have so continuous cystiscopies and TURBTs for now if the mitymicin doesn't work. As a last result I guess the bladder removed?
I have this way to think about the BCG and Mitomycin, funny for an eco-freak like me... It's like, you have a path sprouting weeds, So weed-killer is applied, most of the weeds fold. But a while later a few small new ones sprout, Because the path is now being kept a closer eye on , these are zapped with more weed-killer. Generally if you keep on like this, none of the weeds ever get too big. It's not that the earlier weed-killer 'didn't work' just that you get new ones.. So see what your team think is the best way forward.
So that didn't quite go to plan ! , managed to get an allergic reaction to the heated mitymicin so it was stopped after the second dose. So back to having that 5th Turbt and then plan C whatever that is. I'm on my third year if this now and it just won't budge . Bcg is too strong for my superficial, and no reason ti have a bladder removal, anyone know what's next?? Paula x
My OH's bladder was NOT having any with the MMC heated, spasmed it spectacularly STRAIGHT back out. Consultant said OK go for it at ambient temp then, he never retained it for an hour and by No six it was down to about 20 mins. But it still worked for him. Don't know if that's any help, but there it is.
