Well under went my 1st chemo session on Tuesday in hospital from 10.30am to 7.30pm. I am on the 3x cycle of Gen/sec I believe its called. No major issues yet, went back to work Wednesday but called it a day at 1400 and went home as started to feel tired, back at work again today and feeling OK apart tummy rumbles. So, so far all seems OK but my boss has been really good over this and I can go home when ever I don't feel upto working.

I can tell changes have been happening within my body but I will just deal with it as best I can.

I hope everyone going through this can keep their spirits up as I find that is the best way for me to deal with it

  • Hi billz4,Good to hear you have got the first session done and that you have an empathetic boss.Best wishes for the rest of your treatment.Jane

  • Hi  . I had this Gem/Cis treatment. Good to know you have the first one out of the way. The second treatment should be shorter with a half day and then the cycle is repeated. Tiredness does tend to creep up on you as time goes by but I tolerated it quite well with no real problems. Important to take any anti sickness meds as prescribed. They are designed to help prevent sickness rather than stopping it if it happens. Get a good quality mouthwash and rinse out regularly to help prevent mouth sores and make sure you stay well hydrated with plenty of water or mild cordial. I hope all goes well. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Just a quick update from me.

I have my last cycle of Gem/Sis Today (i missed one of my day 8 chemo sessions as i had an infection in my Nephrostomy) then i have my CT Scan booked in for 28th Feb to see if it is working or not and Oncology Meeting on the 8th March. Luckily i have not had any side effects of the Chemo apart from Fatigue. It looks like they have booked me in for more treatment as i have a treatment appointment on 11th March.

They have managed to get my Pelvic pain down to just an ache and i can now go through the night and most of the day without noticing the pain my Sciatic nerve is causing.

I have felt a bit rough this weekend (thought it maybe another infection) and last night i passed 2 big clots in my Urine and feel so much better this morning. So it just goes to show the passing of clots can still happen anytime, (5 months since my Biopsy)

My nephrostomy i had changed in December has given me nothing but problems constant pain and 2x infections i had this changed a week ago and the difference is chalk and cheese.

Keep strong everyone and lets hope we can all get through the different journeys we are on

  • Good to hear your chemo isn't causing too many problems. I didn't have chemo for bladder cancer but I can empathise because I did have it for bowel cancer in 2014. Sounds as though you have to put up with pain in other areas I do hope that improves for you and you can get yourself back to some sort of normality. I wish you well for your scan.

  • Thank You

My BC is T4B and has spread to my Pelvic Muscle that is why i have the pain as it is pressing against the Sciatic Nerve, so unless they can control the Cancer i will have the pain on and off for the duration.

But hey ho onwards and upwards as they say

  • You sound very stoic, so good to approach these problems with a positive frame of mind. I know when I was having my chemo it never crossed my mind that I would have a negative outcome. Of course there were setbacks there always are but good to hear you have the right frame of mind. I'm sure it lifts other contributors on here.

  • Hi

Looking back at my chemo (7 years ago) I didn't realise how fatigued I actually felt at the time. Take care and glad to know things appear to be going well.

It doesn't matter where you go, there you are
