TURBT - post op recovery

I was discharged about a week ago after my TURBT, and am still peeing very frequently sometimes with urgency, up in the night multiple times etc. Pee looks clear, though each pee relatively low in volume between 100 to 200 l.

Any ideas how long it takes to settle down to something more normal?

The TURBT took it out of me partly because of post open pain and complications with clotting.

cheers

Leo

  • Hi Leo,It’s hard to say as it does vary depending on how much has had to be removed, complications etc.Hopefully you should start to see an improvement In the next week or two.Sorry you have had a rough time with it.Some TURBTS are worse than others.Best wishes Jane

  • Cheers Jane I think the tumour area excision was 2CM incl margin, and about 3 CM of the blighters that grow out the side. Hospital stay was five days, clots etc, had to wait for pee to run clear.

    thanks for your help,

    Leo

  • I had frequency & pain for a good 10 - 14 days post TURBT & bladder stayed irritable for months. Given your complications, a week post discharge is early days. Make sure to drink plenty to help flush through. Hope you start to feel more normal soon.

  • My urologist would class that as sizeable so it’s no wonder you are still having frequency etc.I hope you feel better soon.Jane
