Quick question, I am newly diagnosed with non muscle invasive cancer. I am peeing quite a lot of blood. I am starting to feel a bit tired. Do you think this is psychological or physical? I am sleeping / eating ok.

Another question I am continuing to work in the garden, some work is light, some slightly heavier. Is this ok with BC at this stage? Or should I be taking it easy?

cheers

Leo

  • Hi Leo,I know I felt incredibly tired at the beginning.Perhaps stick to lighter gardening as you are passing blood ? Also if you are losing a lot you might be getting anaemic and that would cause tiredness.Best wishes Jane

  • Hi Leo. I was very tired long before blood started to appear in the urine (last March). I continued to be chronically tired but didn’t know why until my diagnosis of BC in July/August. The amount of blood in the urine was much worse by July and clots and bladder stones blocked me completely in early July. I was at this stage immensely tired/fatigued all of the time, and remained so until after the TURBT in early July. My energy level improved almost immediately after recovering from the TURBT and I felt better than I had for many months if not years. I was almost boasting about the improvement to my urologist in a follow up appointment in September when the ‘second bomb’ dropped and I was informed the tumour was a high grade. I also experienced much right lower back pain starting late last year which improved dramatically after the tumour was removed. My fatigue returned with the BCG treatments, the first six of which I have just completed around two weeks ago. My energy level is starting to improve in the last couple of days. Bottom line is for me, extreme fatigue has been strongly associated with BC.

  • Cheers really useful info, thanks Leo
