Hi I saw the consultant just over a week ago, have had CT, and pre-operation screening for TURBT, so waiting for an operation. Before I saw the consultant I was peeing visible blood intermittently only. Now it’s every day several times a day. I expect the Op before Xmas or just after.
Should I be worried by increased blood or is it the cancer (non invasive papillary) just doing its thing.
cheers
leo
Hi Leo. Cancer cells are weak and can pop causing bleeding which comes out in your pee. Excessive bleeding though needs to be reported. I had heavy bleeding while waiting for my first TURBT and phoned the urology department and they got me an early appointment, so it might be worthwhile giving them a ring to give them a nudge. In the meantime as you probably know, it is really important to keep drinking water to flush things out and prevent blockages. best wishes.
As rilly says, no harm in contacting the department to pass on the info but it seems you will be treated quite quickly anyway.
If they've diagnosed it as non invasive - that's obviously a very good thing
Hi Leo1,Sorry to hear you are experiencing this.It might be worth getting a urine sample in for testing.I had a bladder haemorrhage years ago and the dr at hospital said excessive bleeding can lead to infection.I hope it settles down soon.Best wishes Jane
The advice given by other posts is good. I know that rosé or stronger red pee is concerning and can make you feel a bit 'down.' I hope that extra water diluted the appearance or restored normality. I still occasionally have the same problem, in fact it was the reason I joined this forum recently. My last TURBT was in 2018 (I had two that year) and I have a urethral catheter to prevent my bladder from flexing but that's my only on-going treatment i.e. I'm on a palliative care regime while otherwise living a fairly normal life. Keep your spirits up as required by talking to people on here and don't shy away from consulting your health specialists/GP. They are there to help. I wish you all the best.
