Joined this community forum early last year when I found out I had bladder cancer, It was great to have support from other people who had been through what I now was going through, I am 6 weeks after a radical Cystectomy! Its a slow Recovery but it does get much better as the weeks pass by , I did not go for chemo therapy before surgery as I believed surgery was the best way forward, My surgeon says I am free from cancer but there could be small particles that escaped the bladder and I would benefit from radiotherapy, I would be great full if anyone else has had radiotherapy after surgery and could let me know how it effected them, Thank You Anyastar

Sorry can't answer your question, but it's an interesting post. I've been desperately trying to avoid RC like it's the worst thing in the world but part of me wonders - would it be so bad?
Hi Anyastar . I did not have cystectomy but had radical radiotherapy instead. Maybe different to what you will be having, but radiotherapy itself is painless and sessions lasts about fifteen minutes. The main side effect of pelvic RT is usually erratic bowels and some tiredness but it should pass. I hope all goes well going forward. Best wishes.
Thank you so much rily for your reply , Will be speaking to the doctor today on the best way forward, Not sure if its chemo or radiotherapy they are offering hopefully which ever is less painless, You think after such a big operation would be the end of it all, But I will think positive and hope for the best Anya x
Hi Jane Good to here from you
I'm as good as you can be after major surgery! The surgery was successful, I still have a way to go but I remain positive, After talking to the Chemotherapist today I was offered Chemo as a precaution but I thought the odds were more in favour of not having chemo as could have done more harm than good the odds were 5 % for and 95 % against if you can understand that, and what quality of life I have left at my age I would like to keep, And as you say whats for you wont pass you
How are you Jane are things going well for you
Love Anya xx
Hi Anya,It’s still early in your recovery.Hopefully you will just continue to get stronger week by week.I found some days were better than others.I understand about your decision on chemo, you have to do what is right for you and quality of life is very important.I’m ok thanks, just a bit fed up with my current situation The house is still for sale and I have no idea where I will be moving.I’m keeping positive that it will all work out in the end.Take care.Love Jane xx
