Hi

I am new to this group and I am searching for answers to the effects of BCG treatment.  I finished treatment about 3 weeks a go and throughoutt the treatment my energy level has  decreased tothe point  I can no longer live the active lifestyle i used to. Is this temporary? Any suggestions on helping to get energy level back, food etc. Thanks

  • Hi  and welcome to the group although sorry to hear you are feeling the effects of BCG. We know that most treatments can cause some form of fatigue. Some people get over it fairly quickly while for others it can linger on. I did not have BCG but my treatment wiped me out. My GP helped by prescribing tablets which picked me up and gave me an appetite. I hope you feel better soon. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi NClover, welcome to the group.

Sorry to hear you're having side effects from BCG. I've not had any real lasting effects from my BCG treatments. I felt a bit drained for a few hours after, mainly because I was drinking so much water and was having a shower after each wee. It's a tiring circle.

That being said, being diagnosed with cancer, the worries the fears the anticipation etc I believe does tire you out.

I'm no expert, but try doing something you enjoy. Maybe a country walk if possible or just go for a coffee or pub.

Anything that might take your mind off things for a while. Easier said than done of course.

Sorry I can't give you any definitive answers, but I wish you all the best.

    Kindest Regards.

  • Sorry it is having this effect on you. I would try lots of green leafy veg with some good protein.

I haven't started my treatment yet but I am not looking forward to it as everyone seems to have different effects. It sounds like you e=were active before and I am sure you will get back to an active you eventually. Be kind to yourself and take your time, I also second the country walks. Garden centres always refresh me, especially if I but a new plant Slight smile
