I finished my 6 doses of BCG vaccine 7 months ago, a doctor rang and checked how I was after 3 months. I expected a check up by now is this a usual time span. I know its silly to worry but with waiting and caring for my husband who has early stage dementia its starting to get to me. at 84 its tiring and dont want to bother family with my worries.
Hi annie b1 . Not had BCG myself, but people usually have a follow up flexible cystoscopy between 6 and 12 weeks following treatment. We know there is a bit of a backlog, but 7 months seems a long time. I would be calling urology to chase them up. Best wishes.
Hello Annie. I have recently finished my first 6 doses of BCG and was told I would have a follow-up TURBT after 8-10 weeks. That time is up at the end of next month and if I haven't heard anything by mid-May I'll give Urology a call.
Seven months seems a long time and maybe, with the NHS being under so much pressure, you've fallen out of the loop. It won't do any harm to drop your Urology department an email or give them a call just to find out what is going on. Try not to worry and get onto them tomorrow.
Best Wishes
HH
Have you got a CNS nurse Annie, I’d phone her/him and ask why the delay or as Rily says urology, 7 months is definitely too long to wait. I had a follow up TURBT 5 weeks after first 6 BCGs, I know things are hard now in the NHS but you really need a check up. Good luck Annie x
thank you, I have taken everyones advise and rang the number I had, needless to say it asked me to leave a message. later on friday I got a call back asking what the problem was, I explained the long delay and he said he would get theclinical nurse specialist in urology to find out what was happening. so now I wait, obviously nothing on the weekend but will maybe ring on tuesday if no responce by then. to be honest up till now they have all been brilliant so hope the long delay hasnt resulted in any problems.thanks to those of you who advised x
