This was stated by surgeon after 2nd turbt with his statement that he would have been looking at bcg but now possibly not( presumably because if this finding). Suggested that radical surgery may be best but to wait and see at histology and meeting with consultant.. Has anyone else had this mentioned and if so did it prevent use of bcg? Rest of bladder etc ok.. pt1 G3 original histology.

thankyou

  • My second TURBT said necrotic material removed, which sound similar - essentially debris resulting from first TURBT. Choices should still be BCG or surgery, but be sure to question consultant as to why they recommend one rather than the other. Always a difficult decision, important to weigh up pros & cons, risks & benefits in relation to your personal circumstances & what sort of risk you are prepared to take.

I had TaG3 & actually chose surgery for various reasons including best chance of cure & ability to get on with my life without worry. At that time I was 57, still working part time & with an elderly mother. Now 11 years on, I don't regret my choice.

  • Thankyou Teasswill..that’s most helpful..

  • Hi Ivan263,I had necrotic and sloughy material removed during a turbt.Due to a chronic bladder disease BCG was not suitable and the cancer was causing an obstruction.I had to have bladder removal as I had Squamous cell which tends not to respond to radiotherapy/chemotherapy.You should be given the opportunity to ask questions and get all the facts before making a decision.I had no choice but am living a full life 3 years on.Best wishes Jane

  • winkers60 Thankyou Jane .. I will wait on final histology - so want to keep my bladder but if histology says otherwise I think I am increasingly thinking of radical surgery.. albeit , it scares me.

  • I hope you can keep your bladder. There is plenty of support and advice here whatever happens.Best wishes Jane
