Waiting time for second look

Hi, I am waiting for a second look at my bladder, to be under anaesthetic. Had TURBT removing T1, G3 from bladder on 29th September.  Cancer on ureter will need ureter removing along with it's associated bladder; this to be two weeks after bladder wash out, as long as no more cancer is found in bladder. They really want to take bladder out as well but I am opting to hold onto it as long as possible.

I am in Southampton area, just wondering what waiting period I might be looking at for those procedures.

Cheers, Adrian

  • Mistype, should read "associated kidney"

  • Hi and sorry no answers; we are in the east midlands. Just want to welcome you to this friendly group. Hopefully someone with some useful comment will be along before too long.

  • Good afternoon Adrian. My “second look “ was about 6 weeks after the first. I subsequently went on to BCG starting in February 2021.

  • Hi Adrian,Welcome to this friendly group.I hope you don’t have to wait too long.I can’t advise as I went straight from a TURBT to surgery in just over 3 months.Best wishes Jane

  • Waiting times vary according to hosp - how many patients, staff, availability of theatres etc. The second look is normal for T1G3, to ensure staging correct & it is not muscle invasive. You will then have to wait for results & depending on those, a consultation to discuss next steps. Be sure to weigh up all the pros & cons, risks & benefits, along with your personal circumstances & preferences.

All seems to take forever, but usually they will move fast when they need to. Best wishes.
