Hi all, sorry ive been away while just been trying to go with flow . SO I had a TURBT in Feb to remove 8 bladder tumours  came back low grade but had high-grade  tcc in ureter with lymph node metastasis  . I had 6 weeks of chemo where I was  being very sick  but apart from this my life has luckily been pain free. the chemo worked to reduce my lymoh nodes so I was offered a nephroureterectomy.  This was due yesterday . A cystoscopy was perforned prior to thd kidney removal where they found another 8 tumours, these were removed and the operation halted due yo possibility of spread  I'm unsure if they were in the same place as was still in recovery when told. So now its another wait for historics  I don't think I have never had the chemical wash I will ask why at my follow up might be coz I had carbo and cis chemo ?? Anyone else had similar? Worried ill lose my bladder too x

  • Excuse my spelling mistakes it's 6am x

  • Hi Pugsy,
Sorry they had to postpone the operation. I can’t comment on the chemo related questions, but just wanted to say try not to worry about losing your bladder. You have enough worry on your plate with the new findings, but surely a plan put in place soon to tackle that hurdle.

Many on this forum have had our bladders removed and quality of life is excellent.
I had my bladder removed in 2020 and had a NeoBladder constructed, and life is 99% the same as before.
Not everyone is suitable for a Neo, but those with a stoma have also reported doing everything they did previously.

Of course you will be worried, but please try not to be. Even if your bladder were to be removed, it would not be as bad as you imagine.

    cheers
    Chasam

  • Thankyou Chasam  I guess the only thing I'm worried about is not being able to ride my horse , but I'm sure in time I'll adapt xx

  • Hi Chasam

Just thought I would like to reassure you that life goes on without a bladder and it is great. I have a bag and my stoma is called Basil. I am 2 5 years out from surgery.

    Wishing you all the best

    I know that I don't know
  • Just to add that there was a lady at my hosp who was age around late 60s/ early 70s still riding after bladder removal.

The chemo wash after TURBT is usually choice of the surgeon - probably not deemed necessary for the bladder & probably not useful for ureter. Best wishes with your treatment.
