Hi.
Had a TURBT 10 days ago. Initial recovery was good then picked up an infection so I'm on some antibiotics. Was getting a lot of blood in my urine which cleared up and then came back about three days ago. Had trouble passing urine two days ago as well and spoke to my GP who mentioned blood clot retention and gave me a few practical tips to alleviate the problem. Also told me to make sure about drinking plenty of water which I'm doing. Not seen any real clots passed and the blood has stopped again.
I've read that after 10-14 days with the healing process this is when the clots are likely. With drinking plenty of water what is the likelihood of not actually seeing clots? Having had these issues especially yesterday's episode of not being able to go I'm wondering has this healing process and the possibility of passing clots now gone. Any experiences of some of this happening earlier than the 10-14 days norm please?
Trying to work out what to expect in these next few days. feeling reasonably good today so hope it continues.
Any thoughts would be really appreciated
Thanks
Hi Polar and welcome to the group. You are right that at about the ten day period, the scab starts to break away from the wound and is passed out, but times can vary depending on the individual. The main advice is drinking about 2-3 litres of water a day to flush things out and prevent any blockages. If you can't take that much water, some people advise mild lemon barley water to help get it down. It can take up to 6 weeks for the wound to fully heal and it is important not to do anything strenuous which could aggravate things. Having an infection would not help. When you get your biopsy results, you will find out the next step. I hope all goes well. Best wishes.
Thanks rily.
Will make sure I keep up the water intake. Have been pretty good the last few days with this but livening the fluids up a bit sounds like a good idea to help with this. Been getting bored so need to make sure I don't do too much.. Tricky isn't it when you start to feel alright but of course can't see what's happening inside.
Not looking forward to getting the biopsy results but hope I know asap as hate the waiting.
Hi Polar, the lemon barley thing came from my wonderful old GP 40ish years ago. I'd had cystitis once, living in a cold draughty old place and standing around at bus stops in the rain, and wearing synthetic '80s clothes and sitting on an office chair all day. So when I got twinges again after moving north, I went straight away [oh the days when you could get quick appointments!] The doctor said 'get a bottle of lemon barley, drink the whole lot properly diluted over 24 hours, I do not think you will need the antibiotics. If you do I will then prescribe them but not today'. He was right! No antibiotics, the barley component affects the pH in a way that disfavours bug I believe.

Hi Denby
Thanks for the further insight into the lemon barley thinking. I think that I just pressed the wrong button and fkagged your post to the moderator in error. Really sorry. Do you know how I cancel that? Can't seem to see how I do it.
Just come out of hospital as a clit been block the system. Not good. Tumour I'm told is cancerous but haven't been told any details yet re stage and grade etc
Hi Polar. Don't worry about zapping a post. It is easy to do, especially on a phone. The mods should put it back up in the morning. Hope you get good results, but there will be treatment whatever happens. Best wishes.
