Anyone had experience of this please?

My husband was booked in for this last December and is still awaiting the results.

It was suggested he have it as he was having problems emptying his bladder properly following surgery and BCG.

For those who don't know - it's a very invasive test involving tubes being placed in your front and back passages and measurements taken of how your bladder reacts to stimuli.  Not something he'd want to repeat but it seems the locum registrar who did his test has not yet put his notes onto the hospital computer.  He was hoping that the results of this test may pinpoint why his bladder is not emptying properly and help him avoid the frequent UTIs he keeps getting. My husband has phoned the hospital and now written but still heard nothing so will ask next week when he has his next cystoscopy.  Just wondered if anyone had experience of it.

  • Hi Elpie Bee. Have you tried ringing his consultant's secretary. I hope all goes well with the cystoscopy and you get some answers. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi,I’ve had urodynamics. The first time I was waiting for a taxi home when I fainted.I came round in a wheelchair being rushed to a nearby ward.I had overslept that morning and gone out without having any breakfast. The saline ? used in the urodynamics had altered my blood pressure and that combined with no food caused the faint. The second time I had them I made sure I ate first and was fine.It is an invasive procedure but a useful one.I had Interstitial cystitis for 34 years before bladder cancer so had plenty of procedures and tests.I hope your husbands cystoscopy goes well,Best wishes Jane

  • My husband did write to the Urology Department at our hospital and they replied saying there was an issue with the muscle controlling his bladder.  He has a cystoscopy on Friday so will speak to them at that.  Thanks.

  • Thanks Jane - he was beginning to think that the hospital had just used him as a guinea pig, but he has heard back from them after writing in.
