I have now endured over 3 years living with a Stoma and over this time I have had many occasions with supply of my medical equipment, I.E, late coming, not turning up or only part turning up. I’m not sure if it’s just because it’s a coincidence. I seem to spend a lot of time each month chasing deliveries and this over time it has ground me down a bit. I work full time and obviously having a reliable supply is a must and not knowing if or when supplies arrive can cause massive stress and anxiety to myself. I have swapped suppliers before because of the sheer incompetence and reliability of some of these companies that you put 100% trust into.
Trying to contact your suppliers by the phone isn’t always practical because you are put on hold indefinitely and when your sent emails you are told that they will reply within 48 hours (2 Days) which a find unacceptable. At the moment I have very few supplies left and should have received a delivery on the 8th of December, I have phoned and emailed relevant people regarding this but this does not resolve the issue that I seem to have on a regular basis. I follow the general rule of placing my order one month before it should be delivered however things just appear not to go to plan. I know this kind of thing is not a rare thing to happen as I have been on many review sites and seen many horror stories of supplies letting their clients down.
Hi Dew-Dew,I’m sorry you are having so many problems with stoma supplies. My problem has been with the dr’s rather than the suppliers.I asked for an extra box of day bags but the suppliers rung to say the dr’s wouldn’t allow that.A couple of times a woman has rung from the health centre demanding to know how many bags I use each week. She was extremely rude. This is all extra stress as stoma users we don’t need.Best wishes Jane
That sounds like a really petty thing to do Winkers, I thought these bags were complimentary and were issued by the supplier.
my recent problem is asking for six adhesive remover sprays but only receiving three, it is very important to remove the bag without damaging the skin behind it otherwise this can lead to all sorts of problems, like I said it’s no fun living with a Stoma.
If in your case if it is the dr’s I would phone the receptionist and ask for the practice manager’s email then send them your concerns.

The disposal bags are usually complimentary (from my supplier anyway). Items such as stoma bags, catheters are prescription items & the GP has to approve the expenditure. I've occasionally had the GP change my order for catheters, but the supplier simply submits an extra order for me!
Dew Dew, I wonder if you can change suppliers? I get mine from Charter Healthcare & they're very good.
I don’t know whether stoma supply is standard throughout the country. My stoma nurse e mailed the health centre with what I would need.I order through the suppliers but they e Mail the dr’s who have to agree before the suppliers send me the supplies.I shall ask whether I can ask for an extra box of day bags at the dr’s.The suppliers have been fine,I haven’t had any problems with them.I’ve had a stoma since Sept 2019.Jane
Not at all teasswill, it would be great to get the input of people on this site regarding how they would rate their supplier from 1 to 10, this would let possible current and future Ostomates to make a measured decision on who they would be the most likely to choose, many thanks...

Amcare are my suppliers. So far I have had no problems. They asked me for a designated place supplies could be left if I wasn’t at home.On the rare occasions I have been out supplies have been placed there. My only issue has been with the health centre querying what I use.Jane
Hi Winkers,
I have used the services of Amcare before and at first they were Fantastic, however they turned into an absolute disaster at the middle of 2021 and this is widely known, apparently they had some kind of a technical hitch with their computer systems and this turned out to be an absolute horror show for their clients but don’t take my word for it just follow this link and you will see the reviews on Trust Pilot. uk.trustpilot.com/.../amcaregroup.co.uk
