I’ve not been on here for far too long. I’ve just finished my last cycle of Gem/Cis chemo and although it wasn’t a great ride, it perhaps wasn’t too bad. Anyway, I have my CT scan booked in for Monday to see if it worked. I’d really love to be preparing myself for the next step on this journey, which is hopefully a radical cystectomy, but I don’t want to tempt fate. I’m trying mentally to prepare myself for the fact that the RC may no longer still be an option, but I don’t know what that looks like. I’ve been trying to find out what percentage of people have failed to get to the RC stage after chemo but not had any luck there. I know I should try and stay positive but I want to be prepared for the alternative. There are so many unexpected things on this journey, I want to be prepared for every eventuality. I suppose I’m asking here, is there light at the end of the tunnel, if the tunnel to RC is blocked?
Hi Stritty. Nice to hear from you and good to know you have completed your chemo without too much distress. When you have your CT on Monday, it is unlikely you will be told anything on the day. The images go off for analysis, so unfortunately a bit more waiting. My chemo halted the growth but didn't get rid of it completely and I went on to a different treatment to RC and so far so good. Wishing all goes well for you. Best wishes.
