what happens if kidney function to low to have chemo does ay one know i am worried as i have a nephrostomy and kidney function may be too low
Hi . If it's intravenous chemo you are going for, it is usually important to have good kidney function as the drugs are dispersed out via the kidneys. I do not know how a nephrostomy would affect things. Best wishes.
Hi Chrissim, I’m sorry, I’ve only just seen your post. I had to have a nephrostomy in order to have my chemo. It was mainly to stabilise my kidney function, which hovers around the 55 mark, whereas I think 80 is the acceptable level. My chemo has been adjusted slightly because of my reduced kidney function, but not to the extent that it would be any less effective. I hope that helps and that I’m not too late with my response.
regards
Linda
