Hi again everyone, well it’s nearly 4 weeks post treatment and everyday is a new Eye opener. Sooo I have recently found out that I am now lactose intolerant, after much trial and error ( clotted cream rice pudding and Mac and cheese) do not agree with me!!! I have been having cravings like I’m pregnant again and unfortunately each craving has brought new surprises!!!! It’s currently 5.30 am and after another bed change and shower I am back on the bloody puppy pads !!! Ohhh and could I also ask if anyone else had a bad back after treatment and dizzy spells? ( yep another little gem ) But in all honestly I really should stop moaning as these small things are no where near as painful as before treatment and they are short lived ( well I bloody hope so ) . Like many people I was living in a rainbow and fairytale dream that after treatment I would just go back to my life as it was. Well it’s a different life but not a worse life, I’m still here to embarrass my kids and see my grandkids so I’m very blessed. Anyway rant over and all clean and showered so will try to get back to sleep or go have a brew ( seem ok with the small amount of milk in them ). Have a good day everyone xx
Oh dear, I’m so sorry to hear that—it must be incredibly frustrating for you! I’m currently in week 4 of the treatment, and apart from the soreness on the outside, I’ve started to feel that sharp, stabbing pain (like shards of glass dipped in acid) when I go to the loo. I know I’m in for a tough few weeks before I start to see any improvement. Hopefully, with time, you’ll get back to normality and finally enjoy that mac and cheese and rice pudding! You’re absolutely right about the cravings though—I’m currently craving salmon and cucumber sandwiches!
The cravings are so weird arnt they? And fingers crossed the stabbing pains and soreness may get a little worse but remember it’s only for a few weeks then you will start to heal. And like youself I was ok until week 4 ( so we’re very lucky) and go and have your salmon and cucumber sandwiches and keep moisturising as it really helps. I wish you all the best Mix and your doing brilliant xx
Ahh thank you so much, it’s great to hear your on the other side of this now. I too, can’t wait to be able spend time with my kids again ( they are all away at uni), I miss them so much but my Goal is to go for a big family lunch once they are all home over the summer to our favourite restaurant… fingers crossed xx
Ohhh I’m with you on that one, my eldest lives in Australia and he has sent me airfare to go and see him when I’m better, obviously can’t hook anything yet until after scans but that keeps me going and they’ve just had another baby so can’t wait to get my hands on my grandkids. It’s been hard for him being far away through all this and he wanted to come home but I said there is literally nothing he could do. So hopefully September I will get there. And you will have your big family dinner and it will be bloody loveky xxx
Congratulations Maljay for finishing treatment....I'm a month ahead of you and honestly, I feel better every day - it's almost like it never happened!
I do follow the fodmap protocol as much as possible - Google it and you'll get lots of good advice but it really helped me settle myself stomach down and my BMs. I can have non cows cheese but I can't eat coleslaw. I can drink alcohol free (I'm sober) cider but not AF beer, even gluten free upsets me... I can eat spuds now with the skin on.... I can't do too much of any sweet stuff.
Certainly worth checking out FODmap - even for just a couple of weeks.
Good luck with the recovery and enjoy your family xx
Hi Maljay,
First of all, I'm thrilled that you're post treatment, which is wonderful! And it sounds like many AC patients require diet changes post-treatment, so I wish you all the luck in sorting out what works for you and what doesn't (it will be good to know for when you see the grandkids in Australia).
I too am having back problems. I'm in the middle of week 3 of treatment and out of nowhere, I developed severe pain in my back and anterior thigh. I've never had anything like it. I don't know what your symptoms are, but I am seeing a specialist about my back pain the day after tomorrow, and I will share anything I learn.
Sending hugs. Xx
Hi Poppy and yes please do!! At the min it just feels like you clear one thing up then wham your hit with another, but yes it’s a small price to pay. Wishing you all the best for the rest of your treatment xxx
Hi Maljay, you can experience back pains during treatment and when I started treatment my specialist nurse told me to start pelvic floor exercises and stretching to help keep the spine strong and everything down there supple. There is lots of videos on YouTube how to lay down and stretching that pelvis. I did this three time a day and do not suffer pain even though I have osteoporosis. Also this prepares you for when you use the dilators as the exercises help keep your vagina flexibility. This can also help with bladder and bowel control which we can struggle with early days. Good luck
Julie
