Hi there, I started my treatment today, chemo tablets twice a day and radiation at 19:00. Tomorrow I have an intravenous chemo session but I was wondering if I need to take the tablets as well as, I forgot to ask♀️
TIA
Mix
Hello
You should ring them to check but if they gave you 28 days worth of tablets, then yes. I was meant to... and I'd advise also taking anti sickness tomorrow.... or at least taking those tablets with you.... Everyone's experience is different....
Good luck and great to get going on treatment - tick each day off!

Hello Mix
I had the intravenous chemo on the first day of treatment, and I honestly can't remember if I took the tablets as well on that day. I would ring first thing tomorrow to find out.
Irene xx
Hi Mix,
I had to take the tablets as well as the IV chemo on the same day.
If in doubt give them a call just to confirm.
Good that your treatment journey has now started although appreciate that it’s an anxious time. Hoping all goes well for you and you can now start crossing off the days xx
Hi Mix,
Good luck with treatment! Wish I knew more about the pills. My doctor has me getting all IV treatment, which seems more common in the US where I am located.
What anti nausea med are they giving you? They prescribed me prochloroerazine which is a medication from the dinosaur age. I’m wondering if it is more effective with chemo nausea than newer stuff??
Keep us posted on how you are doing. I’m sending good thoughts your way!
Hey Mix
Everyone responds differently to the chemo IV and to the tablets. I felt poorly with the IV but it passed very quickly after I took the anit-sickness tablets. I was never actually sick.
For me, I did have to take anti-sickeness tablets 30 minutes before my chemo tablets in the morning.... I tender to fair okay in the evening. I found that if I didn't take them, I'd get car sickness on route to radiotherapy.
Always seek advice from your MDT - they also have different types of anti-nausea tablets available - if you do suffer. Keep them post of your symptoms and they'll be best placed to advise and help you.
And remember some people don't have any negative symptoms from the chemo!
Good luck and keep us updated.

Hi Poppydays,
Here in the UK we are usually given Metoclopramide 10 mgs as the standard anti nausea medication. I know that others are used but don’t know which ones as this one worked for me.
Its interesting that all your chemo is IV and that protocols are different depending where in the world you are receiving treatment.
Best of luck for your treatment journey x
Hi PEB24,
It is interesting how different things are! I just got my port placed in my chest and know in other places they use PICC lines. I'm going with whatever the doctor recommends, because any deviation delays treatment, and it feels like it is taking forever to get started.
I see from your other posts that you are experiencing continued fatigue. It sounds like persistent fatigue is a common problem, and it can't be fun to find you don't have the stamina you once did. Still, it seems like you are in the early days of recovery at three months, so I am sending you lots of warm healing thoughts for continued improvement and a return to something closer to what you felt in the past. Take care, and know that you have a friend across the pond rooting for you! Xx
I’ll have a look, I can’t remember right now. I had my intravenous chemo today, together with all the other chemo meds and radiation and I’m feeling ok , so far. Taking one day at a time and moisturising, eating exactly as ordered and drinking loads of water
