 Hi everyone

i am Now coming up to 4 months post chemoradiation, I go to the toilet daily, not loose but formed. Sometimes if it’s a bit more difficult to pass I have a bit of blood when I wipe. My bum is also always sore still and after bowel movement.
has anyone experienced this and is normal side long term effects?

  • Hey - same here except I use one senna nightly as advised by a friend who is 5 years past treatment for the same as us - purely for stool softening to prevent bottom pain!  It’s really hit and miss to find what suits us individually.  Keeping our water intake up helps xx Kissing heart

  • Hello AsLu24

As you have found out key is making sure that you don't get constipated - if I strained at all I would bleed very easily.  It is brilliant that your gut seems to have calmed right down and your stools are back to normal, long may it continue!  And yes to the soreness, the skin is so fragile after treatment, I regularly use cream all over the area to keep it moisturised.

  • Thanks guys, it’s so scary! As soon as I see blood my anxiety flys right up.

I keep forgetting to take softeners nightly, I do it nightly before bed as they make me feel sick for some reason.
I Wonder if it will ever go back to normal (normal as in no pain when going the toilet) the pain has became normal For me now.

  • It will.  Mine never became entirely comfortable but certainly not like passing broken glass as was the norm for me in the early days.

    xx
