Having had chemoradiation for this disease about 20 months ago it’s come back and I am now due to have an APR operation . Has anyone got experience of this?
Good morning Mauranne, you’re welcome.
Going forward once you know what is happening and you have a date the anxiety will hopefully drop slightly. It’s a difficult journey but doable! I have my third anniversary at the end of the month and can say I still go to my fitness classes, swim 2/3 times a week as well as grow my own veggies and look after quite a large garden which require lots of maintenance.
They have kept an eye on me with CT scans and I have another coming up in November. I have a CEA blood test every 6 months now as well. All clear and no worries. PM me at any stage if you feel you need to. Best of luck.
Hi
I had chemoradiation from March through to April
then huge operation lasting 10 1/2 hours in July, this involved detaching and removing my internal J pouch, cutting out the anal cancer with a wide margin including an enlarged lymph node, basically cutting my right bum cheek off to plug the hole by the plastics team, I have a permanent ileostomy, part of my wound split open 5 weeks post surgery and it’s taking a while to heal but getting there, I still cannot sit properly. I have just had an Mri so awaiting results, long hard road but I am still here, surgery and treatment is huge but I am up and about trying to look forwards to good stuff and forget about the bad
i hope everything goes very well for you xxx
Hello and so sorry to hear this. I was facing same surgery 3 years ago if the treatment didnt work , luckily for me it did at that time but I think we would all agree our worst nightmare is the return of the demon!
the help on this site is outstanding so I hope you can connect to someone having been through surgery.
sending strength and hugs to get through this new challenge. Good luck.
Lorna xx
