Hi I have some concerns I hope I don’t seem insensitive but I have been having soft stool for 5 months now and recently started having groin pain and frequent urination but my big worry is that I have trouble passing gas sorry tmi but sometimes I have to help myself by lifting my butt apart. So I went to the a&e they did urine analysts blood work and a ct with contrast and everything came back normal except I have some gallstones and early signs of diverticulitis but none of it seems inflamed or irritated. I do have a appointment in 2 weeks I’m just super paranoid that there is something in my anis that’s causes a blockage or something. I also get some leakage when I pass gas. I’m only 31 I don’t think that’s normal so my question is if there was some mass in my anus or rectum would it be picked up on the ct. sorry just anxious!

    Hi

I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing these symptoms. However, I’m pleased to hear that you’ve received good attention at your A&E and all sounds positive.

You are clearly still concerned so it’s good you have an appointment in 2 weeks.

I am not 100% sure about scans however in my experience, and in terms of cancer, CT scans are used to look at a cross section of the body to check for any spread. Anal cancer is a skin cancer growing in the lining of the anus. So a MRI scan is used to scan the tissues and membranes for any abnormalities.

Anal cancer is uncommon so it’s unlikely you have it. However, as it’s uncommon it can often be diagnosed. This is what happened to me. So when you see your GP make sure you specifically mention it.

Common symptoms of anal cancer can include bleeding, polyps (piles), change in stool shape, weight loss, change in bowel movements.

I understand your anxiety, our minds always take us to the worse case scenario places, but it’s more likely your symptoms are linked to your other medical conditions than anal cancer.

We have an online anal cancer surgeon you could contact. If you email he will respond in a day or two.

Wishing you all the best for your appointment.

Thank you for your reply it does just terrify me because I do have all of the symptoms but I do understand it’s rare so it could possibly be some other condition but my mind is not letting me calm down and I’m just being very impatient I guess again thank you for you reply.
