Had post 2 year PET and MRI scans this week.
Im interested to know if anyone who is years down the road also had some ‘wobbles’ in their PET scans along the way - I was hoping the signals would reduce ....
MRI was unchanged from last time which is good, but PET scan showed increased signal where my tumour had been.
radiology report advised increase was not conclusive (was 5.5 last time, 9 this time) and recommended visual inspection.
my surgeon looked with proctoscope and said no visual evidence of disease - there is just the excision fissure where the tumour was chopped out, so I’m kind of reassured but I was really hoping for an improved scan.
Instead of moving to yearly scans after 2 years I’m being kept on 6 month scans which seems prudent
Do others have any similar stories ?
Hi
Although I'm not a member of this group I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies. This could be that no one else has experienced this or, more likely, that the people who have just haven't seen your post yet. By replying to you it will 'bump' your post back to the top of the page where hopefully it'll be seen by the right people.
I'm also tagging my fellow Community Champion into my reply as she looks after this group and might be able to help you further.
Wishing you all the best

Hi
Nice to hear from you and congratulations on being 2 years down the line.
I am only 12 months clear and my annual scans are looming, so I’m afraid I don’t have any experience to be able to advise you. I’m sure there will be other AC patients before me that have had similar experiences, but they may not be as active on this site if they are further down the line in their remission.
I will spend some time today looking through old messages to see if I can connect you with someone who’s had a similar experience with their scans. Hopefully, in the meantime, someone will read this and get back to you.
Another option would be to email the online anal cancer surgeon to gain his opinion/advise.
All the best.
