My first week of treatment for AC; Monday started with 6 hours at Chemotherapy with Cisplatin given intravenously. This went a lot better than expected, and fortunately no side effects. The nurse there was fantastic arranged a urine test as I have been experiencing blood in my urine - had an infection so 7 days of antibiotics added to my growing list of tablets - given my Casecitabine tablets (3 tablets twice a day Mon-Fri), Dexamethasone (4 tablets each morning for 3 days) and Olanzapine (1 tablet for 3 days).
Then off to Radiotherapy which again went smoothly. Given an updated treatment plan which includes a weekly review with nurse, a weekly complimentary foot massage (well received) and a weekly blood test.
No radiotherapy on Wednesday as I had my liver biopsy (EUS with FNA); now the anxious wait for the results.
All was going well until Friday hit a low day, constipation had kicked in and despite an enema and spending a few hours waiting, no bowel movement resulted in not receiving the radiotherapy. Sent home with a box of Laxido powders.
This morning I have never been so happy to have had some bowel movement.
Onwards and Upwards; stay positive.
Hi JustJ40d64b
Well done on getting through week 1, that bit closer to the finish line. Sending hugs. Xx
Hi JustJ40d64b,
Great that you’ve completed week 1.
Well done and hope that next week goes well too.
I hope that you don’t have to wait too long for your liver biopsy results and everything crossed for you.
How lovely to offer weekly foot massages too. They sound like a great team.
Now that you have the laxido hopefully you will keep ahead of any further constipation too.
Best of luck for the week ahead xx
Hi JustJ40d64b ,
It’s good to hear you’ve got week 1 under your belt. Once you’re in the routine & you know what’s to be expected from your daily appointments you begin to feel a little more in control don’t you think?
I hope you don’t have to wait too long for your liver results & that the news is good.
I took Laxido throughout my treatment & due to anal stenosis for 3 years post treatment! It was my best friend! There’s nothing worse than constipation during & after this treatment.
Wishing you lots of luck for week 2.
Nicola
Hello JustJ40d64b
I hear you - my low day was constipation and my daughter ended up giving me an enema on the bathroom floor, my husband heard me bellow with pain from the other side of the house. Laxido will become your friend, especially if you take any opioid-based drugs, which all cause constipation. Please be aware, especially as you progress through treatment and you may be offered these.
I am pleased your first week went well. I am so aware of the anxious wait following your liver biopsy and we are all thinking of you and hoping for a good result.
Big hug
Irene xx
