Hi all I hope you are all doing well today.
I had mapping scan yesterday and start treatment on 15th Sept in afternoons. It wad a balancing act with the bladder but apart from that it was ok
Im dreading it but also looking forward to getting the treatment done and dusted but I also fear the treatment won't work.
Ian
Hi Ian ( Ian L c2e27 )
Brilliant news about your start date. Everything you are feeling is totally normal. Once you get started the time will go quickly and you will be on your way back to health. The treatment is highly successful, just take it one day at a time. Sending hugs. X
Oh Ian, it is a common fear we all have and one that never completely goes away at surveillance scans and follow-on appointments. But take heart that this treatment is really successful in all but a very few cases and all the people still on here are testament to that. The next couple of weeks will fly by and then you really will feel something is being done.
And we are all here to virtually hold your hand.
Irene xx
Hello Ian,
I too start my treatment on 15th September. I had my planning meeting and scan today. It really was a lot to take in and process and can relate to dreading it. I know I have to be brave about all this but I worry that I won’t feel like me anymore at the end of this. In terms of the treatment not working I am led to believe it has a good rate of success rate, something which my oncologist seemed very positive about and have to believe it will all be worth it. Good luck for the start of your treatment!
Hi thanks all for your messages
I just want to start treatment and get it all over and done with once and for all and I hope and pray the treatment will work
Im quite robust so I hope the treatment won't have too harsh effects but im planning to have a few months off work to recover x
Aww im sorry you are also going through the same treatment but I have my fingers crossed for you and everyone.
When I found a lump, I thought it was something that would clear up and never expected to get an anal cancer diagnosis at 47 but I have to think positive and believe the medics and believe what they say and believe my case is no different from everyone else who has had successful treatment.
Please keep in touch and let me know how you get on, im sure you'll be fine and in a few months time we'll be putting this behind us xxxx
I have just turned 40 while all this has been going on so know where you are coming from with this. The gp initially thought it was a haemorrhoid and was a total shock for it to be something else entirely.
It would be good to keep in touch. I think we need all the moral support we can get and I know this group has been a support for me up to this point.
Hi Ian (Ian L c2e27 ),
Thats great that you’ve got your planning scan done & that you’ve got a start date. I’m sure everyone here can empathise with the way both you & Vicwil are feeling with the need to get on with the treatment but dreading it in the same vein & the fear of it not being successful. This treatment is very effective & is tailored to your own personal staging in the strength & mapping of your radiotherapy. There are many of us here that are testament to the success of the treatment, personally I’m 7 years & 2 months post treatment (not that I’m counting) & I’m doing well.
Remember we’re here to support you however we can.
Nicola
Thanks all for your lovely messages of support it is very much appreciated.
My lump is getting bigger and thr leakage I had had got worse and ive realised it's blood. Currently im rolling up tissue and placing it between my cheeky to catch tvr leakage and 8m changing this a few times a day.
I know it's getting worse and I hope it's not spreading so the sooner I get treatment started tve better x
Hello Ian
Quite a few forum members have remarked on how quickly they felt the difference once treatment started, hopefully this will be your experience too. Ladies panty pads could help with the leakage too, they just stick to your underpants.
Big hug
Irene
