Last years treatmwnt went well and given all clear. when a lump appeared in my groin at Christmas i was worried. Biopsy showed cancer cells in my lymph node.
Had an mri scan yesterday so when I see the oncologist this Thursday for a more accurate diagnosis i will be better informed but i am now scared.
This was my fear, that it would pop up again and be more serious.
Hi Kitkat67 I’m so sorry to hear your news. It’s good that you have a only a relatively short wait after your MRI before you see your Oncologist although I can imagine it’s a very distressing time. Your Oncologist will be in a position to set out treatment options after seeing your MRI results. Please let us know what happens. I will be thinking of you on Thursday. Bev x
Thanks Bev, this will be 2nd oncologist visit this year the first being early January where they arranged for a an ultrasound biopsy ct and now had my Mri scan. My specialist nurse said i may have to have surgery by the plastics team.
I dare not look up anything on the subject until Thursday as tbh i really am scared this time round...
I will go in my own and im not telling my sister as she will bombard with me questions galore and moan about the state if the NHS, which to be fair i cant fault on my experience and speed of which i been dealt, which is another reason i think its serious
Hi Kitkat67 very good idea not to start ‘googling’ you can really go down rabbit holes… I understand why you don’t want to tell your sister at the moment given all the questions you would face but I hope you have a supportive friend who you could perhaps talk to. It can be such a relief to talk things over with someone. It’s so important that you are fully supported. We’re always here for you as you know. Bev x
I am quite a closed person andbwill not cry or really open up. I do have a friend yea who is nurse practitioner who came with me last year, but i dont know if she can come Thursday, to be honest I've not asked and won't yet. For now just chatting on here is ok. Maybe denial i dunno x
Hi Kitkat67 just do whatever you feel comfortable with, we’re always here to provide support. Sometimes it’s easier to talk to people on here, that’s why this community is so valuable. I hope you manage to sleep ok. Stress can seriously effect your sleep patterns and when you’re tired it’s harder to cope with things. Bev x
Hi Kitkat67,
I'm so sorry that your biopsy didn’t reveal better news, the saving grace is that you noticed this lump straight away & you were seen pretty quickly & hopefully on Thursday you’ll know what lies ahead in the way of treatment. As Bev has already said it’s best to stay away from Dr Google as a lot of the information out there can be really outdated at the very least & some of it is just plain wrong! As far as appointments etc., go don’t let anyone else tell you how you should do this, if you feel ok going it alone that’s fine, if you feel you need a bit of support then that’s fine also, you just need to do you right now whatever you feel will best help you cope with your current situation.
I’ll be thinking of you on Thursday, please if you feel up to it let us know how you get on.
Nicola
