I finished chemo-radiotherapy way back in May 2020 and had a minor problem with Palmar-Plantar Erythrodysesthesia at the time, which seems a pretty common response to taking Capecitabine. However since summer this year I’ve had a series of what I can only describe as boils on the sole of my foot (just the one). Is it possible for Palmar-Plantar Erythrodysesthesia to develop so late after chemo has ended?
Hi I do think this may be a possibility. As I understand it, you can have symptoms at the time of, or shortly after chemo and then you can have flare ups later on. I assume you’re on 6 monthly check ups now with your Oncologist, if one is due I would raise this issue with him/her. If not I would contact your GP. Bev.
Hi ,
Although I haven’t personally suffered with this condition I did, following treatment, have several unexplained skin rashes/irritations that I’ve never suffered with prior to this. These seemed to resolve over the first year post treatment.
I agree with Bev in that I would give your oncologist or GP a call for some advice, there may be some medication/treatment that will ease or hopefully resolve it.
Nicola
