As if it couldn't get more personal..... I need a bit of advice and for want of a better word; reassurance. At the end of my treatment which is now 3weeks ago I had my final review with one of my nurses and was given a leaving 'present'! I have to admit it was a bit of a jaw dropping moment!! I was given a Femmax dilator/ trainer set. I was given instructions on how, when and how many times to use it. I was told to start at the 3 week post treatment mark but I'm really nervous as I'm still very sore and still having a wee is very painful. How was it for you girls? Is there anything that I need to take heed or be worried about? Xxx
Well girls, after much deliberation I decided to book an appointment with my doctor who is phoning me this afternoon. She is the surgery specialist for women's health so I thought that at the very least I can talk about my anxiety and apprehension on using the dilator and ask for a prescription for the correct lubricant for the procedure. I know what I'm like... I'll just worry myself sick and I'm just starting to feel a bit better side effects wise over the last couple of days. The worrying thing is that we don't know how much effect the radiation has had inside and my imagination is vivid to say the least! I'll let you know how I get on girls xxx Marie
Hi girls, I had my conversation with my Doctor and basically it should be not more than slightly uncomfortable and definitely not painful. If doing the 'deed' does cause more than mild discomfort then I must wait and try again in a weeks time. The last couple of days I've had terrible nausea again but on a VERY,VERY good note I've been going for a wee without using my portable bidet hooray. Still having to do a mad dash for a bm but it's a lot less painful now and much better than excruciating constipation. Xxx Marie
Hi Mecca Marie
I think I would leave it a bit longer if it hurts and there was blood. Did you look at the Vaginal Mucosamin? I’m sure that helped my healing process and the applicator didn’t hurt me at all. I usedhat for a week then left it a week before trying to use the dilator. Might be worth a try..... Personally don’t feel you need to be so uncomfortable. Definitely feel for you.... I remember saying to my Consultant have I got this pain (BM) for life, I thought it would never go, but it has! Hope your healing gets there soon!

I'm having to use my portable bidet again as I'm very sore now. I'll leave it for a few more days and if it's still painful I'll call my nursing team or Dr. I was already worried so this has made me even more so. The blinking nausea is back with a vengeance so taking anti sickness tablets again which means falling asleep all the time and counteracting the constipation it causes with Laxido so I've been running backwards and forwards to the loo all morning. I've got my first consultation with the councillor this afternoon I'll have to take a diarrhoea tablet so I don't have to run to the loo mid conversation. I was hoping to be in a more positive frame of mind when she rang. Looks like I've got moany Marie syndrome again! .. I told my 19 year old daughter about my experience with the dialator and she said that she had a feeling as I told her that she thinks men get when they see another man get kicked in the nuts.. that made me giggle. I'll let you know how my counselling session goes xxx Marie
