Hi I’m new to this group although I have posted on the Head and neck group.
I’m an 82 year old male very fit and still work part time in the summer.
I have been diagnosed with Parotid Salivary duct cancer after 3 months of scans and tests. The cancer has spread to my lymph nodes on the left side of my neck, but thats all. As I’m fit he surgeons have offered me surgery to remove the cancer from the salivary duct and a neck resection and reconstruction of my face, they also said as an alternative they could offer ADT testosterone suppressant, which has a lot of side effects for a man and it doesn’t cure the cancer only stops it growing and could shrink it. I’m in dilemma as to what to do, the surgery or the ADT treatment has anyone had experience with ADT it’s normally for prostrate cancer but they discovered that some salivary gland cancer have the same receptors as prostrate and sometimes works. Also anyone who has had surgery I would be very interested to hear about after effects etc.
Kind regards
john
