Hi all,
Im a 39 yr old mum and wife, diagnosed in November 2025 with B-cell Acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
After 2 rounds of chemotherapy there was still 2% of stubbon cancer remaining so i have just done a round of blinatumomab. Still there is 0.02% cancer! The plan is to have another round starting this monday.
Since my diagnosis a donor has been searched for but unfortuantly none have been found. After getting our hopes up that my sister was a 50% match Drs have now decided she is no longer suitable. Im now on the cord blood donor list. Apparently all is still progressing behind the scenes and the plan is still to transplant.
Trying to prepare myself the best i can for the transplant so any advice would be great!
Hi Lwills15 and welcome to this corner of the Community although I am always sorry to folks joint us. I am Mike and I help out around our various Blood Cancer groups.
I don’t have Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) but I have been on my journey since 1999 when at 44 I was diagnosed with my first rare (8 in a million) incurable but treatable type of Cutaneous T-Cell Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (NHL)……. eventually reaching Stage 4a in late 2013 when a second, also rare (4 in a million) type of aggressive Peripheral T-Cell NHL was then presenting so although my Blood Cancer ‘type’ is different I most definitely appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well.
……. and more so as I have had 2 Allogenic (Donor) Stem Cell Transplants (June 2014 then Oct 2015)….
Due to me having to be treated for my 2 rare T-Cell NHLs at the same time my main treatment journey from late 2013 to late 2015 was rather complicated…. but you can see my story in this link >> my story……. but I am over 10 years out from my last treatment, I turned 70 last Nov and I doing great.
It can take time to search world wide for a matched donor….. and let’s look for that good news to come along soon……. I am in the small percentage of people who had a match with a family member and in my case my big brother was a 10/10 match.
We do have a dedicated Stem Cell Transplant group where over the years people from various blood cancers get and give support.
Always around to chat.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
