Partner Insurance

Hi All

I appreciate this is quite a wide subject but hopefully somebody might have some suggestions.

I am looking to book flights and hotels for a personal retreat-style trip to the Amazon next April and I would like to purchase some travel insurance in the event that I'm forced to cancel relatively last minute due to my partners brain cancer treatment taking a turn. (She is not travelling)

Whilst she is coping really well at the moment, it's difficult to know how the next 4 chemotherapy / Enhertu treatments are going to go, hence I just wondered if anybody knew of any insurers that would cover me in the event I have to cancel?

I appreciate that there are many forums and threads in relation to the person who is diagnosed but I couldn't find any that relate to the partner / close person who is diagnosed and wondered if any at all would cover this...

I'm all ears if anybody does know of any providers or alternative solutions. If not then booking last minute based on our circumstances might be the only option ahead.

Thank you very much in advance.

  • Well I got some quotes back in the summer for a week in Spain & it wasnt overly expensive. So today I booked a week gone to book insurance & being quoted £735 up to £3101 for one week! I dont know what we are gonna do, as the trip hasnt cost that!!

There was a list on here who covered  people with cancer but for the life if me I cant find it! One was a company run by 2 men I think who had cancer & were very well recommended.

We have the E111 card for europe or whatever its called now, but always have private. I'm at my wits end now of what to do. His condition hasnt changed. So baffled See no evil

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the group which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read about your partner's diagnosis and I can understand you wanting to find travel insurance that will cover you if you need to cancel your holiday.

There have been quite a few people who have posted in this group in the past, also trying to find the type of cover that you are looking for but, unfortunately, none have ever reported back whether they have been successful or not.

Salsera posted on this topic 12 months ago and said that her insurer would cover her "if my Dad's medical professional is happy to confirm in writing, before I book, that they don't anticipate my Dad declining significantly before the time of my holiday." If you want to read her complete post just click here

Maybe you could check when you get quotes if the insurer would be happy to do the same.

I hope you're able to find the insurance you're looking for and, if you do, please report back so I can let others know in future.

  • Thank you. I will continue to look and ensure to post here should I find anything.

    Thanks again
