Hi can anyone suggest travel insurance companies for cancer?
I've booked a holiday & back in the summer I found a company that was giving normal quotes. No idea what company it was.
Now I've just done a few searches & nearly fell on the floor!! The cheapest for a week in Spain is over a £1000! The holiday hasnt cost that.
We both have the ECHI ( I think is the name) cards & there was a list on here of all insurers & I cant find it.
Help!!
Hi Tillyboo
Unfortunately, it can be more difficult to get reasonably priced travel insurance after a cancer diagnosis.
I think the "list" you're referring to was probably the threads 'recommended travel insurance' and 'recommended travel insurance 2023-24', as you'll find lots of suggestions for travel insurance within them.
It's always a good idea to take an EHIC/GHIC card with you when you go abroad but remember that it's not a replacement for travel insurance, as it may not cover all health costs and never covers repatriation costs.
I have used goodtogoinsurance.com and payingtoomuch.com in the past.

I managed to get a goid price with Albert & Eddie. So all done. But I was being quoted £3k £2k etc it was barmy prices.
So I used Albert & Eddie for cancer & Coverwise for a stroke he had in 2018. Its come to £112 for a week which is a bargain.
So did you declare the stroke to Albert & Eddie but chose to exclude it and then declare the cancer diagnosis to Coverwise but chose to exclude it from their cover?
I didnt see anything about a stroke on Albert &;Eddie only cancer related conditons, though it did take me a while to navigate the site. I never saw anything for strokes he had it in 2018. So I just used his normal Coverwise for the stroke
Hi Tillyboo
I must admit to being really concerned that you didn't declare your husband's stroke when you applied for insurance from Albert and Eddie. I've had a quick look on their website and it is listed as a pre-exiting medical condition that should be declared.
It's really important to declare all medical conditions, as insurers could refuse to pay out if you make a claim if you don't. I assume that you didn't declare the cancer diagnosis to Coverwise either and, if that is the case, you could be in the same position there if you need to claim.
I just thought Albert & Eddie were purely cancer insurers, hence why I used another insurers for stroke. I spent hours on the Albert & Eddie site & for some reason stomach cancer kept popping up, which he doesnt have. I eventually after several hours got to lung cancer & treatment & thought thats it, as no other cancer. No idea how I managed it, as stomach cancer kept coming up when I entered chemo type. I honestly thought this company only dealt with cancers. So now I have 2 policies & the EHIC card
Yes you do have two policies but they might not be any good to you if you haven't declared all your husband's medical conditions to both companies.
It might be an idea to phone both companies to see what you need to do to put things right.
Hello Latchbrook and Tillyboo,
I've just seen this discussion and share your concern.
I was an insurance professional for 44 years in construction and engineering, not travel, but the principals are the same no matter what is being insured.
It is essential that everybody is aware that all questions asked by an insurer must be answered fully and correctly and that all other information given is accurate to avoid invalidating cover should a claim be made.
If anyone has any doubt, however small, as to exactly what should be disclosed when answering these questions (or if a question is not clear) I suggest they 'phone the insurer to clarify.
Derek.
All done!! My brain wasnt in gear last night. And just could not see anything stroke related nor ramipril. So I rung Albert & Eddie explained the pickle I had got myself into, they then added the extra medical condition/meds which for the life of me I couldnt see. Gave a new figure which I accepted & has been resent & sat safely in drawer!
And the other company had a 14 day cooling off period, do cancelled that & will be refunded in 5 to 7 working days.
So all done & all I've done is caused myself stress through sheer stupidity ( though I was tired!).
So alls good....
