Wondering if anyone has advice on claiming on travel insurance having being diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer and having had the radical hysterectomy.
For only the 2nd time since COVID we had 2 holidays and our first cruise booked for this year. It cost £80 x 2 for signature from our GP to be reimbursed for the holidays but for the cruise we are only able to get 25% back and need to claim from travel insurance. Again we need evidence of my illness. Trying to keep expenditure down does anyone have any suggestions or must we pay £80 again for our GP's signature.
Many thanks.
Hi Pa52
I'm sorry to read that you have to cancel your holiday and I know how disappointing that must be for you on top of having to deal with a cancer diagnosis.
I had to cancel two upcoming holidays a few years ago when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. One part of the claim form from the insurance company had to be completed by my GP. However, when I approached the surgery they said they couldn't give me a timescale of how long it would take them to do as they were so busy.
Previously my breast cancer nurse had said that she could complete the form for me, as she knew I was going to have to cancel holidays, so I rang up the insurer to check this would be okay. They said it would and so this is what I did. The bonus was that I didn't get charged!
Maybe give the company that's handling your claim a call, if the form says the GP must complete it, to see if your CNS can complete it instead.
