Le Shuttle AXA travel insurance.

Having spent many days trying to find affordable travel insurance I was amazed to see cover being offered by AXA through the Shuttle booking website for a standard price less than £60. The website claims there are ‘No Detailed Health Questions’ asked. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. With that in mind I phoned the number provided to make further enquiries. I was assured that providing I was not travelling against the advice of my doctor and had not been diagnosed with a terminal illness I would be covered.

I would be grateful to hear the views of others.

  • Hello PaulC999,

Sounds good to me on the face of it.

I don't know what you're suffering from and whether you're in remission or not, but my only concern for anyone who happens to be "incurable but treatable" is whether AXA define the term "Terminal Illness" in their wording. Some insurers do, but most do not and it's important for anyone who is incurable but treatable to know exactly where they stand on this point and it would be worth checking if relevant.

  • Thanks Excavator, I agree. My personal situation is that I have Rectal Cancer and I will today have my final papillon treatment.

From my recent conversations with insurance companies I have discovered that they are reluctant to define the meaning of ‘Terminal Illness’. However, without exception they are all prepared to record that you have cancer but also that there is not a diagnosis that it is terminal. It is plainly ridiculous situation when we all know that a cancer diagnosis means that it could result in death.
