Hello. I have been lucky enough to have had a couple of operations in the last 7 months and am now without cancer cells but being monitored going forward. However as a celebration my son has booked us on a 4 day 3 night cruise to Amsterdam which cost £420 per ticket. Trouble is I've been quoted £200 to £250 for my travel insurance, one trip. This seems harsh given I am now okay. Can anyone please recommend a company that are better priced? Thank you.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

That sounds like a lovely trip that your son has booked for you but, unfortunately as you've found, it can be more difficult to find reasonably priced travel insurance when a cancer diagnosis is involved.

Have you had a look through the 'recommended travel insurance' thread yet as you'll find lots of suggestions for travel insurance there? It was started over 6 years ago now and, as there are lots of recommendations, it's probably best to go through and make a list before settling down to contact the insurance companies.

I do hope that you can find some suitably priced insurance and that you have a lovely time.

  • Thank you but that conversation has been "locked"? and all the replies are over 6 years old. I doubt that things have changed from a difficulty point of view but I suspect from a "who to approach" point of view it has. Best wishes. Lyni.

  • The thread has been 'locked' to stop further comments being added not because the recommendations are no longer relevant.

I think you'll find that the majority of insurance companies recommended are still providing insurance for people with a cancer diagnosis.

You could also have a look through the thread entitled 'recommended travel insurance 2023-24' but I don't think there are any different recommendations there to the older thread, but I could be wrong.

    Best wishes with your search
