Can't Get Travel Insurance

Hello All. I am new to the group and wondered if anyone could help meI was diagnosed with grade 4 bowel cancer with liver mets 2 years ago. Following chemotherapy I had liver and bowel surgery and am now clear. During this time I developed a lump on my neck which proved to be melanoma. After several minor ops and a wide excision it was deemed to be grade 4 and had spread to my lungs. I started the double immunotherapy but developed colitis after the third dose so it was stopped. A scan showed I was clear. In April 2023 a CT scan showed a lesion on my spine at T7. I've just had radiotherapy but my latest scan showed it has spread to T6 and T8. So I am now waiting for a biopsy to determine if this is melanoma or the bowel cancer. The medics feel it is much more likely to be melanoma. However I am due to be flying to Kefalonia in a couple of weeks but no one will insure me because I won't the results of the biopsy before I go.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar of knows how I can get some travel insurance please?

Rufus

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

It sounds like you've been through a lot over the last couple of years so a holiday sounds like it would be really lovely for you.

Unfortunately, as you've found, it can be more difficult to find travel insurance when you've had a cancer diagnosis. Have you had chance to look through the 'recommended travel insurance' thread yet, as that's where the majority of recommendations are? If not, clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there.

As there are lots of recommendations, it's probably best to go through the thread, make a list and then sit down with a big cup of tea before you start phoning around.

Although I'm not aware if any of the travel insurance companies specialise in covering people who are waiting for results, they have all been recommended because they do provide cover for people with cancer so they'd be a good place to start.

Do come back and let us know how you get on
