Travel Insurance Company Recommendation

My 82 year old father has rectal cancer.  He is due to have chemotherapy and has recently had a colostomy.  He has a holiday to Tenerife booked and we are looking for insurance.  The quotes are £3,000+.  Does anyone have a company they could recommend him as his holiday is paid for.  The oncologist is happy for him to go and is going to start his chemo when he returns.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

Unfortunately, as you have found, it can be more difficult to find reasonably priced travel insurance when you've had a cancer diagnosis.

Have you had chance to look through the 'recommended travel insurance' thread yet, as that's where you'll find recommendations from other group members who have been successful in getting travel insurance? If not, clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there. The thread is quite long so it's best to make a list on paper of the companies recommended and then work your way through them.

Most people recommend that it's better to phone the insurance companies rather than try and do online quotes as often at the end of the online quote it will tell you to phone the company and you'll then have to go through all the information again. Also, sometimes the broker can refer to the underwriters to see if they would provide cover when an online quote might just give you a straight refusal.

I do hope your dad can get some reasonably priced travel insurance
