Trying to get specialist travel insurance so I can visit family abroad as this will more than likely be my last Xmas with them is driving me nuts. I got quoted £1,300 for myself and the wife just fo a 6 day trip!!!!! Just because I'm terminal theyjust seem to want the earth.
Anyone know of a good insurer to look at?
Hi Dave and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to hear how hard you're finding getting reasonably priced travel insurance. Unfortunately it can be more difficult to find reasonably priced travel insurance when you have a cancer diagnosis.
I hope I don't sound insensitive but are you classed as terminal because there are no more treatments available or are you incurable, eg. there are still treatments such as chemo, radiotherapy, etc? This is an important distinction to make as it will affect the cost and ability to get insurance. If you are classed as terminal then check with each provider that you ring what they class as terminal because some class it as having less that 6 months to live whilst others will say that it's less than 12 months to live.
I know you've tried some of the companies that appear on the Recommended Travel Insurance thread but it's worth trying the others on there as well Clicking on the link I've created will take you directly to it if you haven't seen it. Most people recommend that you phone the travel companies rather than try and do online quotes.
Do come back and let us know how you get on.

Hi there
you say “as soon as I put” am I right in think you are doing an on line application.
In my experience it is so much better to speak to someone on the phone. It does take a while to go through the process but it is much easier to explain the different issues, also ask for clarification.
Lots of people take MST and are not necessarily terminally ill!
good luck
Cheers Christine,
I'll call some of them as suggested. With my cancer I have had confirmation 18-24mths.I have had all the chemo & radiotherapy thats available. Ok I know things can change but i still think its wrong to hike prices for sufferes of this terrible disease.
