Hi, my mum was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer, she has a holiday booked at the end of the month and has a travel insurance policy she took out before the diagnosis. At the time they said it was a stomach ulcer which she was totally upfront about.
Now its changed to cancer she rung the company to tell them and ask about being able to cancel the holiday and make a claim for the costs against her insurance but they are saying she needs to take out a whole new policy specifically covering cancer to be able to cancel it for that reason. Surely that can't be right? This is the whole point of having insurance isn't it?
Any help would be appreciated, thank you
Interested in who your mother was insured with; also interesting to know who the underwriters are. May be worth contacting Trading Standards?
