Give me my medication!

For about 5 days I've been trying to get my Cabo.....however you spell it medication. It's usually posted to me as they won't supply it at pharmacies.

The usual process is a monthly phone call from the hospital who ask things like my blood pressure, side effects, and other stuff. Then they arrange for the meds to be sent to my home.

Well this time, that all happened and I received the wrong dose tablets. They were 40mg, but I need a mix of 40mg and 20mg. So I called and told them and they said they'd call back to confirm it's been sorted out. They didn't call back. So the next day I called again and after repeating myself many times, they finally understood and told me to call their internal pharmacy. So I did that, and they said they have the corrected order but there's an issue with it and they're awaiting an answer from....."someone". They'd call me back though of course! The lady was super nice (honestly they all are) so I really believed she would call back. That was 3 days ago and I had no call. I asked what the issue is as I probably know more about it than they do in this case, but I was told that they'd still have to talk to...whoever it was (procedure stuff).

It's now after the weekend, on Monday. As we all know, nobody gets sick or needs any medical help at the weekend, so I didn't attempt to contact them then.

It's now 1pm and I've heard nothing. Should I chase them? Maybe. I may just wait as calling them won't change anything. I'll have to call tomorrow though if I don't get an update.

So instead of having 20mg and 40mg on alternate days, I've had 40mg and zero on alternate days. If I take 40mg daily, I'll run out of those and I bet they'll never send me more, plus I'll have more chance of awful side-effects which is why I'm on an alternate dose. Oh and they also didn't send Imodium like they should have done, so I've bought a load of packs myself as they're off the shelve meds anyway (they usually send something else that I'm told is actually the same thing).

Anyway, not to worry, it's only my life at stake here. Or is it "steak"?

Mostly these people are fantastic but they've slipped up this time. Talking of slipping up, I did the other day for no apparent reason and cut my knees and hand. Poor me. Don't you hate it when you use a plaster and the sticky part tugs on your skin as you move, so the injury hurts even more?

Have a great day everyone.

  • Well that's surprising. After writing the above post, I had a call from a lovely lady, telling me I'll get the medication tomorrow!

After sending the post, I was ranting to my Mum about it, and we were interrupted by my phone ringing. It was the hospital so I said, "I've just been talking about you". It was a fun moment and the lady had a giggle.

So all is good again in the world.....Well maybe not all, but you know what I mean.

Will it be the correct medication though? Hmmm.

  • A quick update. I did get the medication the next day, but guess what? It was wrong! It was supposed to be a box of 20mg Cabo, plus the Imodium substitute they usually prescribe (I forget the name). Well what actually arrived was the 20mg, but another box of 40mg that I don't need, and no Imodium!

I won't bother calling about it as I've already bought several packs of Imodium. It's incredible how they can get this so wrong. They call me monthly about side-effects and anything else before sending me new meds, so I'll mention it then.

I didn't take the Cabo at all yesterday as I've already had 40mg 3 days in a row, and side-effects were starting to show. The diarrhoea hasn't occurred again, thank goodness, but I've had a sore throat for a while which was getting worse and was a side-effect I had before. I'll take 20mg tonight then go back to 20/40mg alternate days.

Thanks for listening to my rants! I know some of you are as I see the reactions, which I appreciate.  Slight smile
