  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but I am so sorry to hear about your husband.

I have no experience to bring to the table but let’s see if any group member with first hand experience will pick up on your post.

The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) and when it comes to the practical and emotional challenges of supporting your husband and indeed yourself you may benefit from joining and posting in our general cancer……

    Carers only

    Supporting someone with incurable cancer

……. support groups where you will connect with a wide range of members navigating the exact same support challenges.

  • Hello

My name is Steph and I’m part of the team who look after the Online Community here at Macmillan. May I wish you another warm welcome to the site although I am sorry that your husband's cancer has brought you here.

I am sorry to read that your husband's cancer is terminal and that you're struggling to cope at home. It's positive that you have reached out, as we can help you find the support that you need.

Have you spoken to your GP or your husband's cancer nurse about accessing some more support at home? They can help you access the support that you need. You may want to contact Adult Social Services in your area to arrange a needs assessment.

Please do have a read through Macmillan's information about practical support for carers here.

You can find lots more information about supporting your loved one with cancer here, including help with emotional support or anything else you might need.

If you have questions, or just want to talk to someone who is here to listen, please do contact our Support Line. Our Support Line teams are available 7 days a week, 8am-8pm on freephone 0808 808 00 00email or live webchat.

To help you find some support from other members, I have joined you to this forum 'Supporting someone with incurable cancer' and moved your post here.

I hope you find the support you’re looking for. Please do let us know if you have any questions or need further support with anything at all. I hope the Community helps to show you that you don’t have to go through this alone.
