I’m new to all of this (talking online )
Im 46 , an only child and my dad (70) is dying .
two years ago he was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer with spinal metastasis.
the journey has been such an emotional rollercoaster. Good news , then bad news and so on .
seeing him deteriorate is killing me inside .
He now has carers 4 times a day , bed downstairs as he can’t get upto bed any longer.
liver function tests and heart (bnp ) are deranged with acute oedema to the feet , ankles and legs , along with ascites in his abdomen and around his liver.
His appetite has reduced significantly, however always is so thirsty which is new .
he sleeps most of the day with the morning being his best period where he is awake and with it for about an hour and half .
The palliative Nurse gave us some sad news on Monday that he may only have a matter of weeks left and most probably won’t be here for Christmas.
since this , I go round even more times a day and don’t want to leave him , the thoughts going through my head “ what am I going to do without my dad “ and I won’t see him again are devastating.
I manage to keep myself busy in the daytimes , however nights are terrible , I come to bed and just want to cry my eyes out , I can’t get my dad out my head .
is anyone else going through what I am ?
