My mum is on her 7th cycle of chemotherapy, the pain management is hard and its making her lash out. Sometimes, when I try to help her, it feels like I can never get it right. Her eyes look so angry and I end up walking on eggshells. She was never really like this before, so it's hard to feel like I am doing the right thing by caring for her. Oncologists gave her 3-6 months. I gave up my job to focus on being there for her treatments, but now there is nothing for me to do but care for her. Days have gotten so hard I can barely look at myself anymore, its so stressful that even getting out of bed feels like wading through cement.
Hi Kiews and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
It does sound like you're going through an incredibly difficult time so I can understand you wanting to reach out.
As the online community is divided into different support groups I'm going to recommend that you also join and post in the supporting someone with incurable cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who will understand what you're going through.
If you'd like to join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Thank you very much for your reply. I have joined the group and I will update my profile.
