Feel heartbroken

My mum was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in June 23 after my 3 grandparents dying over the last 3 years. She managed to have 3 rounds of chemo before developing sepsis and us having to say our goodbyes. Luckily she pulled through but this week we have found out the tumour has grown and there is no more treatment. I am heartbroken as she is only 72 and doesn't want to die. On top of this her husband today had to have an urgent MRI and is now having to have surgery for a bulging disc. It all feels too much as well as juggling work, 3 children and my own grief with most of my closest family dying over the last few years. Where do I find the energy to keep getting up each day to support everyone without falling into a dark hole and knowing my mum is going to die soon? Broken heart

  • Hi

I'm sorry to read that your mum has been told that there is no further treatment for her and it's understandable that you're feeling as you do.

I haven't been in the same position as you, as I was the one with cancer, but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again and I'm sure some forum members will be along soon.

Have you thought about having a chat with the nurses on the Macmillan Support Line? It's available to anyone affected by cancer, not just patients, and it might help to chat to someone who isn't closely involved with your mum. If you want to give them a call, they're available on 0808 808 0000 every day from 8am to 8pm.

    ((hugs))
