My lovely Mum was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer which had spread to multiple lymph nodes and the liver in March after months of being unwell and loosing lots of weight. She had emergency surgery and a stoma fitted. She had 5 rounds of FolFox and last Tuesday we were given the devastating news that the chemo hasn’t worked and it has now spread to her lungs and stomach. She now has the decision of wether to have a different chemo which only has a 25% chance of slowing the cancer and giving her more time or concentrating on her quality of life for the weeks/months she may have left. This is all made even more difficult by the fact my Mum lives in Southern Ireland alone (we lost Dad to lung cancer 3 years ago) and she has no one to take care of her. She relies on charity services for transport to and from hospital appointments and treatment and is unable to get out anywhere due to how tired and weak she is and having no one who can take her. I really want to bring her back to England to live with me and my family but I just don’t know where to start or even if she will be allowed to fly in her current state of health. I feel like I’m reliving an awful nightmare after being so far away from my Dad when he was sick and fear it may be to late to get her home .
