Losing Mobility

Hi all, not sure if I’m looking for answers or just thinking out loud but my Mam was diagnosed last year with terminal bowel cancer with secondary cancer in her lungs and liver. She has had many other problems (covid, sepsis to name a few) and since her last spell in hospital has been unable to lift herself, move position or get anywhere on her own unaided. The nurses and physio have given her exercises to do but she seems totally unable to muster the strength. We know that because of her complications her palliative chemo is unlikely to resume and we have slowly started making our peace with that but we assumed she would have more quality of life than this for longer. Is this just part of this hideous process? I suppose like so many people we just hoped we would have longer.

Thank you for reaching out to the forum, this is a great place to offload some of your own thoughts and feelings.

I am sorry to read that your Mum was diagnosed last year with terminal bowel cancer with mets, and that she is now unable to do anything without assitance from others, this must be so very difficult for her, but also for everyone around her.

We never know how long any of us have, but it is especially difficult when we know that it is near, but we don't know how near, and we always hope for longer. It is so difficult to not be saddened or stressed by the uncertainty or affected by the difficulty of not being able do more than you can.

I do hope that something can be done to assist Mum further, and that you all as a family get the support that you need

    Thinking of you
